South Lake Citizens Coalition

WHO WE ARE

A coalition of Lake County neighbors.

We are neighbors who care about the place we call home. We come from different backgrounds and different parts of Lake County, but we share a common belief: that good government starts with engaged citizens.

HOW WE STARTED

Why we organized.

We started because we believe civic engagement is not optional. When government grows faster than the people it serves, when budgets go unread and meetings go unattended, the people who pay the bills lose. We organized so that wouldn't keep happening here.

OUR PRINCIPLES

What this coalition stands for.

Government should serve the people who pay for it.

Every tax dollar represents a Lake County family making a tradeoff. We hold government accountable for whether those tradeoffs are worth it.

Growth should be honest.

New development should pay its own long-term costs — not borrow them from future taxpayers, future infrastructure budgets, or future generations.

Places matter.

Walkable downtowns, family-friendly streets, and vibrant Main Streets aren't luxuries. They're the foundation of a community worth living in.

Public information should be public.

Records, budgets, votes, and meetings should be accessible to anyone who pays attention — not hidden behind procedural moats.

Protect what makes us special.

The lakes, springs, hills, and tree canopy that make Lake County worth living in belong to all of us. We have an obligation to pass them on in better shape than we found them.

Stronger together.

Individual voices get drowned out. Organized communities do not. We are stronger when we work together, and Lake County is better when its residents are paying attention.

OUR WORK

How we make a difference.

We show up, we pay attention, and we speak up. We follow what local government is doing, share what we learn with our neighbors, and support candidates who we believe will serve Lake County honestly.

If any of this resonates, we'd love to hear from you. Get in touch, sign up to volunteer, or contribute to the work.
